Description
After Mali's junta leader Colonel Assimi Goita on Friday offered pardons to all 49 Ivorian soldiers whose arrest in July triggered a bitter diplomatic row, Malians interviewed by AFP in the capital Bamako hail the decision. One notes that the "full remission" of the Ivorians' sentences comes as "a relief for the international community, for the sub-regional community and for all the Malian people and the Ivorian people", whilst another says that Goita's decision "will help to ease the tense relations between the two states".
