Description
Petr Pavel, former head of the NATO Military Committee, narrowly beats billionaire ex-premier Andrej Babis in the first round of the Czech presidential election. The two will square off in a second-round run-off on January 27-28. Pavel, a former paratrooper who led the Czech general staff, scored 35.4 percent in the tight vote against 35 percent for Babis. The winner of the run-off will replace incumbent veteran Milos Zeman, whose second and last five-year term expires in March. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
