Description
She has been detained, fined and faced other legal woes in Russia, but human rights activist Svetlana Gannushkina, who helped establish the NGO Memorial that was a co-laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize last year, has decided to stay in her home country despite her open opposition to Moscow's war in Ukraine. "This will stay in Russia's history, as a shameful page of Russian history, and nothing will be able to cross it out," Gannushkina said of the war in an interview with AFP during a visit to the United States.
