Description
A van believed to be carrying Nigeria's former deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, arrives at London's Old Bailey court at the start of his trial for organ harvesting. Ekweremadu is accused along with his wife, daughter, and a doctor, of bringing a 21-year-old man from Nigeria to the UK to have his kidney removed. The politician's daughter suffers from an unspecified condition and, allegedly, it was planned that she would receive the organ. "He's part of the cabal who have diverted the funds which should be used for everyday citizens for their medical treatment" says Citizen Gbola, an activist with 'Take It Back' outside the court, "you will see many Nigerians who suffer from the same illness that his daughter suffers from, who are languishing, with no state provision."
