Description
As in several cities in France, the fire brigade ambulances of Tours, in the Loire region, regularly have to wait in overcrowded hospital emergency rooms to transfer their patients. They wait "an average of 28 minutes", according to Professor Laribi of the Trousseau University Hospital. "When we have 8 ambulances stuck, the first of which have been waiting for more than 2 hours, we no longer have an ambulance available in the urban and rural areas, which poses a problem for us to re-engage for any new request for help", deplores Lieutenant First Class Stephane Blanchin.
