Description
Residents in the southern Turkish town of Antakya vent their frustration at the lack of state assistance as the search for survivors of Monday's deadly earthquake continues. "There is no professional team" says Adil Oktay, a bank worker, "even though it's the fourth day, no one has come. No authority has come". A French rescue team from the NGO 'RAPID', which specialises in earthquake aid, scales the remains of a residential building in the town with an efficiency that adds to the anger of those still waiting on news of loved ones. "The French team came and put up the ladder without hesitating" says Nuray Oktay, "the French team immediately did what the AFAD (Turkish) team should have done and it didn't even take an hour."
