Rescue dogs doorstep lovers with flowers in Washington, DC, thanks to a partnership between a florist and a local rescue organization. For an extra $35, clients can surprise their loved ones with four-legged delivery good boys ahead of Valentine's Day. "This is the sweetest thing ever, are you kidding? Dogs and flowers are definitely a girl's best friend, over diamonds or anything!" Melanie Zentner says, while cuddling with Finnegan, a 15-year-old Beagle Boston Terrier, after receiving her bouquet. Flower shop owner Holley Simmons launched this initiative three years ago and donates the proceeds to Lucky Dogs Animal Rescue, the association in charge of recruiting volunteers and their rescued furry friends. "It's just a good reminder that you know, there are plenty of dogs out there that need rescuing", Simmons tells AFP. This year, around 30 deliveries were ordered in the US capital.
