Description
In Turkey's Gaziantep, hit by the massive 7.8-magnitude earthquake that killed over 35,000 in Turkey and Syria, a makeshift camp is set up in the town's football stadium. Volunteers such as Karam Al-Haraki and 24 others from his Syrian student union in Turkey have come to help: "We split into groups: medical, paramedic and logistic teams, to help our devastated people... They're back to the life that they escaped in Syria, fleeing from Assad's shelling and fighting" he says. The Islahiye Stadium Camp is made of 500 tents that house 1,000 families, according to the statistics of the camp administration, including the family of Syrian refugee Hasan Samani, who has sought refuge in Turkey in 2015. "We're full of fear and we're cold. We can't provide for our children," he comments. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
