Nigeria, Africa’s most populous democracy, has among the lowest number of women in office in the world, and the number of those seeking political offices in local and national offices has fallen since 2019. The number of women running for election this month and in March has declined at almost every level. Against all odds, Juliet Isi Ikhayere, a 28-year-old lawyer is now running for the House of Representatives in the Federal Capital Territory.
