Description
Spain's capital city of Madrid reacts to the adoption of a law on transgender rights, allowing gender self-determination for anyone 16 and over. The 'trans law', which passed by 191 votes in favour, 60 against with 91 abstentions, makes Spain one of the few nations to allow people to change their gender on their national identity card with a simple declaration. "Spain is one of the pioneering countries that are going to approve this law, I live here and that makes me proud" says Brazilian Elisa Mayo. But opponents like Patricia Bilbao claim "being a woman is a biological reality, it is not a feeling." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
