Description
In Chasiv Yar, a city less than 10km from Bakhmut, the hottest point in Donbas, civilians adapt to life under the threat of increased shelling. Without heating, they also try to repair what has been damaged and destroyed around the city. "There is so much shelling now!" says Leonid, as he makes a fire in the street to prepare tea. "There has been no heating for two months" explains Volodymyr, in his apartment, "here I am, sleeping - putting on a sweater, a jacket and three blankets. This is not life, but a mockery" he adds. Another of those remaining near the frontline despite the hardship is Nadiya, who questions what she would be able to do if she left the city. "Go begging?... I think there is povery there (if she were to move). Yes, young people will leave, they can still find something... what can we find at our age?" IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
