Description
French President Emmanuel Macron continues his African tour aimed at renewing frayed ties to the Republic of Congo after inking an economic accord with Angola. He meets with Congolese President Denis Sassou-Nguesso in Brazzaville where at an appearance before journalists, Sassou-Nguesso listed sites Macron could visit on a longer trip in the future, likely to be seen as a barb at the short length of the French head of state's stay. They also talked about the situation in Libya and "coordinated to support the initiatives taken by the African Union to enable a reconciliation process working towards an electoral process." The form and rules around elections have been key sticking points in Libya's faltering peace process since the last major round of fighting in the North African country, torn apart by a decade of war.
