On the streets of Turkey's quake zone, a month after the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that killed more than 50,000 in Turkey and Syria, women sleep in makeshift tents. Many women are taking on an extra burden in the aftermath of the quake, dealing with poor hygiene conditions, the shame of asking for personal items, and taking on chores such as cooking and cleaning. "Women and LGBTI+ people can be very vulnerable to abuse in such disaster situations" says one volunteer, while a victim of the earthquake adds "we have nothing. This is how it is."
