Tensions in Georgia boiled over this week as thousands took to the streets to protest the bill, which many see as being reminiscent of Russian legislation used to silence dissenting media and opposition figures. Those protesting expressed fears that the country, with aspirations to join the EU and NATO, was drifting towards the Kremlin.
