Description
"This vote in no way signifies unconditional support for the government," says Bruno Retailleau, a French Senator representing Les Republicains (The Republicans, Eds.) after the Senate adopted a compromised text on pensions reform in France, which ratifies the increase in the retirement age to 64.
The Republicans are the only party expected to lend support to president Emmanuel Macron's Renaissance party, which has a slim majority in the Assembly.
Socialist senators say it's "game over" and complain that "all this haste" to get the (pensions reform) text adopted reflects "the scant regard" the government has for "parliamentary procedures". IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
