Description
Phillip Lühl and his partner Guillermo Delgado express disappointment following the Namibian Supreme court's decision to overturn a ruling by a lower court to grant citizenship to the couple's son. Yona, now aged four, was born in neighbouring South Africa through surrogacy. The government says the decision was based on the couple's failure to comply with the law by registering the birth with the Namibian authorities within one year, as legally required. However, rights organisations have criticised the decision "I also feel like people are passing the buck on making a decision and that is really sad to see" says the Cofounder of Equal Namibia.
