The prefect of teh Deux-Sèvres, Emmanuelle Dubee, holds a press conference on the eve of a demonstration against "bassine" near the construction site of a new water reserve for agricultural irrigation in Sainte-Soline, in central-western France. Dubee defends a "proportionate operational mechanism that allows us to deal with threats", while thousands of environmental activists are expected in Sainte-Soline on Saturday to demonstrate against the mega-pools.
