Description
"She is buried here, somewhere, it's the 14th grave," says Malika Tabti with emotion, who for the first time finds herself in front of the cemetery of Harki children, where her little sister was disgracefully buried in 1963. Located in Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres in the South of France, this place had been buried in oblivion for 60 years and was recently revealed by excavations.
After Algeria won independence in 1962, some of the Algerian Muslims who fought for France during the eight-year war of independence, known as "Harkis", moved to France, where they were initially housed in grim camps and have since faced decades of racism. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
