Description
The lawyer for Senegal's Tourism Minister Mame Mbaye Niang, who has brought an appeal to ask for a tougher sentence for opposition leader Ousmane Sonko, says his client has "a right" to bring his defamation case to court. "Anyone who feels defamed (...) has the right to file a complaint," says El Hadj Diouf in front of the courthouse in Dakar, after the trial was adjourned until May 8. Sonko, who was accused of defamation, was handed a two-month suspended sentence in the court case at the end of March, after the prosecution had asked for a two-year sentence. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
