Description
Dozens of undocumented migrants, including children and infants, face the inclemency of cold nights and strong sun on Peru's deserted southern border with Chile. Venezuelans, Colombians, Haitians, among others, ask permission to pass through Peru and continue their journey to their countries, as Chile has increased immigration controls. On 19 April, Peru's Interior Minister, Vicente Romero, announced that the government had mobilised about 200 police officers at the border with Chile in response to the arrival of migrants.
