Description
Reporters Without Borders (RSF - Reporters Sans Frontieres, Eds.) Director General, Christophe Deloire, paints a sombre image of the situation in "two-thirds of the countries" on the NGO's 21st 'World Press Freedom Index', published May 3, 2023.
The report notably blasts the growing spread of "propaganda" and "disinformation". Among the biggest culprits to global press freedom are Russia, China and Israel.
Deloire adds in an interview with AFP that press freedom and democracy is more widely threatened by "an information ecosystem which is organised by the industry of disinformation, of arbitrary content that has nothing to do with journalism." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
