Description
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) warns of a growing likelihood that the weather phenomenon El Nino will develop in the coming months, fuelling higher global temperatures and possibly new heat records. "We have a 60% chance to enter into an El Nino phase" by the end of July says Dr Wilfran Moufoma Okia, head of the WMO's regional climate prediction services division. El Nino is a naturally occurring climate pattern associated with increased heat, drought and heavy rains around the world, last taking place in 2018-2019. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
