Description
Northern Ireland's pro-UK Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) launches its manifesto for local elections at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Belfast, with the party's leader Jeffrey Donaldson promising to stand firm in opposing the current deals on post-Brexit trade between the United Kingdom and the European Union. A renegotiation of the trade protocol by the EU and UK -- labelled the Windsor Framework -- was largely aimed at remedying unionist concerns but the deal has so far been spurned by the DUP. Donaldson says whilst the Windsor Framework "undoubtedly represents significant progress", the proposal "does not deal with some of the fundamental problems at the heart of our current difficulties."
