It is near-certain that 2023-2027 will see new record highs for global temperatures, the United Nations warns, as greenhouse gases and El Nino combine to send temperatures soaring. WMO Secretary-General Petteri Taalas says "there's a 66% chance" that one of the next five years will see the world exceed the 1.5 degree warming target set out in the Paris climate accords.
