Description
Visitors to Imola express their disappointment after deadly flooding in Italy's northern Emilia Romagna region caused the cancellation of the Formula One Grand Prix, scheduled for Sunday May 21. At least nine people have died after heavy rain caused rivers to burst their banks and submerge entire neighbourhoods. "I respect this decision" says Frans Wijnen, a Dutch Formula One fan, "people have died here... and you never know what might happen". Another of those visiting the site is Naxiieli Tamariz, a Mexican fan who planned the trip for six months. She says that despite her sadness at missing the race, "it's better to get security for the people." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
