Vardar Skopje ultras, known as the Komiti, are fighting to bring back the glory days of the football club that was the envy of North Macedonia -- winning a litany of titles both domestically and across southeast Europe. But the club is now a mere shadow of itself, relegated to the country's Second Division, where it relies on hand-me-down equipment and substandard training facilities. To make ends meet the Komiti have helped fill the gaps, with fundraisers, handouts and an undying presence in the stands to cheer on their forlorn team, whose players share their aim. "Some say we are crazy" says Filip Gacevski, Vardar's goalkeeper, "but really we are crazy in a positive way and we simply have a clear goal to bring back the biggest brand at the level it deserves."
