Description
Nadia Cheryl says the goal of her organisation, the "Maison du droit au répit" (House of the right to rest), is to help senior citizens with Alzheimer's lead lives that are "as normal as possible". Since 2019, she has been welcoming senior citizens into her home to stay for the day and participate in activities like art therapy. Fewer than 5,000 elderly people with a loss of autonomy are housed with French families, a small figure compared to the 600,000 people in aged care homes. Audrey Jacquet is one of those hosting a senior citizen, 86-year-old Maguy, whose family lives far away. "Maguy (...) is another friendly presence,' says Audrey Jacquet. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
