Description
Climate activists from the group "Letzte Generation" (Last Generation) hold a press conference after the houses of seven of its members were searched by German police. The authorities suspect them of "forming or supporting a criminal organisation" as the country toughens its stance against their eye-catching actions, which have included glueing themselves to roads, flinging mashed potatoes at paintings in museums and blocking airport runways. "The 15 house searches that took place this morning have hit all the supporters of the Last Generation hard" says Aimee van Baalen, spokesperson for the group, "they scare us". Van Baalen also hits out at the German authorities, asking "what about the many small donors? Should they all expect legal consequences soon?" IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
