Description
"What I'm expecting is a change of government" says Ugur Barlas, a teacher in Ankara, speaking on the eve of the second round of voting in Turkey's historic presidential election. "We are fed up with this oppressive regime" he adds, explaining that "my vote is for Kemal Kilicdaroglu," Erdogan's main rival. Despite the support, opinion polls show the opposition CHP leader struggling to make up the five-point deficit he suffered in the first round. The two rivals have been campaigning round the clock in what is widely viewed as Turkey's most important election in generations. "Ataturk founded and protected this country" says Hatice Isikli, looking back to post-Ottoman Turkey's founding father Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, "he made us a civilised country, I hope that this continues to be the case."
