Description
Large waves lash the eastern coast of Taiwan as Typhoon Mawar passes by the island towards southern Japan. The typhoon is not expected to make landfall in Taiwan but could still bring torrential rain to its mountain areas, according to a forecast by the Central Weather Bureau.
The island's fishing fleet seek shelter at fishing ports after the weather bureau issued a sea warning for the slow-moving typhoon, which was packing maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometres per hour, according to local media. IMAGES
