Description
On June 4, Taiwan will see a performance of "35th of May", a stage drama that follows an elderly couple's decision to openly mourn their son who died in Beijing's 1989 bloody crackdown on Tiananmen Square after silently grieving for decades.
Lit Ming-wai, the Hong Kong producer of the play, calls for the international community to continue to express concern about the human rights situation in China and Hong Kong after a rehearsal in Taiwan.
"Just like the 'Tiananmen Mothers', Hong Kongers are suffering the same fate under the repression of authoritarian regimes," she says. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
