Description
Ambulances stand outside the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar, nearly 160km away from Balasore - the site of India’s deadliest train disaster in decades. At least 275 people were killed, and hundreds more injured. Officials had initially reported 288 deaths, but the Odisha state government has since revised the toll to 275 after some bodies were mistakenly counted twice. Many have been brought to the AIIMS morgue where there is more capacity to keep and database the dead so families can collect them. Once identified, the wooden coffins are loaded into an ambulance and driven home. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
