Description
For Mokgele "Roro" Ramathe the Comrades Marathon held in the KwaZulu Natal province, is not "just a race." The runner says that "when you are part of it, you are part of history." The ultramarathon has also become more inclusive since it began in 1921, with the first black man, Samuel Tshabalala, winning it in 1989. “If you look this year, probably the top ten male runners will all be black,” says nine-time race winner Bruce Fordyce.
