Description
A new museum packed with hundreds of treasures collected by Spain's monarchs over the past five centuries is set to open in Madrid this month. Located just across from the Royal Palace, the Royal Collections Gallery, which opens on June 29, will showcase paintings, tapestries, furniture and elaborately decorated carriages. "There are works that come from palaces or monasteries" explains Leticia Ruíz Gómez, director of the Royal House collections, "but there are other works, like, for example, the 'White Horse' of Velazquez or the Caravaggio, that were not hidden in the palace, but also were not part of the touristic visit that is usually done."
