Western allies could start training Ukrainian pilots to fly US-made F-16 jets as soon as this summer says the Dutch Defence Minister, Kajsa Ollongren. Speaking after a joint press conference with British Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace, Ollengren says "the ambition is as soon as possible. Wallace explains that Britain "will seek to do the elementary flight training" but would be unable to conduct hands-on F-16 training, as the country does not operate the planes. Moscow has warned that the West would be "playing with fire" by supplying Kyiv with the advanced jets, which Ukrainian leaders have repeatedly called for as it battles against Russia's invasion.
