A summer -- which saw temperatures reach a record high in May -- and an unprecedented drought is straining energy supplies in northern Vietnam as rivers and reservoirs at hydroelectric power plants run dry.
The drought has also affected the livelihoods of many residents who live near Thac Ba hydropower lake in northern Vietnam’s Yen Bai province. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
