Description
Residents in Taiwan crowd sticky rice dumplings shops for "Zongzi" to mark the Dragon Boat Festival. "Zongzi" is made of glutinous rice and various fillings wrapped in bamboo leaves - a traditional Chinese rice dish that goes back centuries.
"When we were growing up, my mum would hand made zongzi herself during 'Duanwu' Festival (also known as Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on the 5th day of the 5th month in the lunar calendar)," Edward Weng says as he waits for his turn to buy zongzi.
"I buy from shops now after I left home because I don't know how to make and wrap a zongzi," he adds. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
