Description
Legal representatives and activists welcome the Court of Appeal's ruling that the UK government's plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda is unlawful as the African nation could not be considered a safe third country. Alison Pickup, Director of Asylum Aid, an organisation providing legal representation to asylum seekers and refugees, says "our clients were very scared of being sent to Rwanda country they know nothing about most another been to some have never heard of". Dashty Jamal, general secretary at the International Federation of Iraqi Refugees, says that he is "pleased to hear about that decision" but says the decision on its own is "not enough", urging the British government to stop what he calls a "shameful deal".
