Description
The scandal over an unnamed high-profile BBC presenter accused of paying a teenager for sexually explicit images is likely to be damaging to the state-funded broadcaster's reputation, a lawyer tells AFP, whilst highlighting that British law prevents the disclosure of the person's identity without criminal charges being brought.
"I don't think the public expects the BBC to be able to control all of their staff's every movements, but I think they do expect openness and transparency. And the BBC are really struggling with that because laws prevent them from disclosing the name of this individual," says media disputes lawyer Matthew Gill. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
