Description
Between 2021 and 2022 Colombia "has reduced deforestation by 29%" says Colombian Environment Minister Susana Muhamad during a press conference. "One cannot rest on one's laurels because on that year the number has been reduced. Historically there are years when it is reduced and then the trend goes upwards," warns Muhamad, as the Amazon continues to be the region with the most forests destroyed.
Colombia, one of the most biodiverse countries in the world according to the UN, has not recorded a similar figure since 2013, when 116,128 hectares of trees were logged. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
