Description
Media lawyer Matthew Gill of Howard Kennedy LLP says that there are "concerns" around reporting in The Sun about BBC news presenter Huw Edwards following an announcement from the Metropolitan Police that allegations regarding the news anchor do not warrant criminal investigation. "Now that it seems that there was no criminal activity going on here," says Gill, "there is a question mark about whether Huw Edwards's privacy should have been respected in relation to relationships with adults." The presenter has been named in a statement made by his wife in which she said he had been hospitalised for mental health reasons following days of speculation fuelled by The Sun's allegations that a high-profile BBC presenter had paid for sexually explicit images from a young man.
