Hundreds of people from all over Peru protest in Lima to demand the resignation of President Dina Boluarte. "Since the first march, we have been protesting this genocidal woman," says a protester from the southern city of Puno.
Earlier this year, Boluarte submitted two projects to the right-wing-dominated Congress to advance elections to 2024 (April and December), both of which were rejected for lack of consensus. According to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), the Peruvian government's repression since Boluarte assumed the presidency last December has resulted in 50 deaths, about 20 of which were caused by bullets fired by military forces.
