Military forces guard the Guayaquil penitentiary in southwestern Ecuador to "restore order" in the detention center, where a new prison massacre left six dead and 11 wounded on Sunday, according to the Armed Forces. About 1,500 military personnel entered the penitentiary, also called Guayas 1, as part of the state of emergency declared throughout the prison system. The measure will be in effect for 60 days.
