A Ukrainian flag is projected onto the facade of Kosovo's government building on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day. Although Ukraine has not recognized Kosovo's 2008 declaration of independence, the government of this former Serbian province has shown solidarity with Kyiv since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022. While Pristina is hoping for Ukrainian recognition of its independence, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who met his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in Athens on August 22, said he believed that "there will be no change in Ukraine's position towards (...) the territorial integrity" of Serbia.
