Description
Migrants wade into the Rio Grande from the Mexican shore to avoid the string of large orange buoys placed by Texas to block their passage, and slog on toward the United States. They cross to Eagle Pass in south Texas, where that state's governor, Greg Abbott, has deployed the military in an effort to contain the influx of migrants. "I'm traveling with two children. In the forest, it took almost five days," says a Venezuelan migrant. "My husband and I do not believe in open borders but we also don't believe that we should treat people inhumanely," shares Magali Urbina, who owns a pecan farm located in front of the buoys.
