Thousands of supporters of the Honduran government of leftist President Xiomara Castro march in the capital to demand that the opposition-dominated Congress appoint an attorney general and a deputy to fight corruption and drug trafficking. The current ones, Oscar Chinchilla and Daniel Sibrian, end their seven-year terms on August 31 and are accused of being permissive of corruption in the two governments of the right-wing National Party (PN) Juan Orlando Hernández (2014-2018 and 2018-2022), who is imprisoned in the United States for drug trafficking.
