Description
Rivne nuclear power plant in Ukraine becomes the first Soviet-built plant to receive US fuel for VVER-440 reactors, from Westinghouse Electric plant in Västerös, Sweden, produced jointly with Energoatom, Ukraine's national nuclear energy company. The fuel was previously only produced by Russia’s TVEL Fuel Company. Patrick Fragman, Chief Executive Officer of Westinghouse Electric Company, German Galushchenko, Ukrianian minister of energy and the President of Energoatom, Petro Kotin, meet to sign a cooperation agreement. "I'm especially glad, as the minister said, that we can replace Russia as a dependable nuclear partner for Ukraine," says Martin Åberg, the Swedish ambassador in Ukraine, also attending the cooperation agreement signing.
