Despite ongoing war and warnings from authorities, over twenty thousand Jewish pilgrims made the annual trip to the Ukrainian city of Uman, which is one of the birthplaces of the Hasidic movement. Since Russia's fully fledged invasion of Ukraine last year, Kyiv has urged pilgrims not to travel to Uman, which has been targeted by lethal air strikes.
