Description
Despite Poland's unilateral embargo on Ukrainian cereals, Polish farmers claim that their situation has significantly deteriorated since the Russian invasion of Ukraine due to the collapse of prices. "Six months ago, prices still covered production costs" says Wieslaw Grun, who runs a 900-hectare farm just 30km from the Ukrainian border. "That's no longer the case". Farmers say 90% of Ukrainian cereals in transit have stayed in Poland, a large portion of which are contaminated with pesticides and salmonella, making Poland "Europe’s rubbish bin".
