The agricultural sector in Gaza faces a number of challenges - a scarcity of potable water, as well as high-levels of pollution and salinity in the water. Gaza imports much of its fruit and vegetable from Israel, and conditions in the Palestinian enclave make growing produce difficult - swathes of agricultural land have been covered with concrete, and new apartment blocks in recent year to accomodate Gaza's growing population.
